Wisconsin will not be changing who won last fall’s election.
Republican state Representative Tim Ranthum yesterday filed a resolution in the State Assembly to ‘reclaim’ Wisconsin’s ten electoral votes. He says widespread claims of voter fraud need to be addressed. Former President Trump cheered Ranthum’s resolution yesterday, but Republican leaders in Wisconsin pronounced it dead. Assembly second in command Jim Stieneke said Ranthum’s resolution is out of bounds, unlawful, and will not be called for a vote.
The legislature’s lawyers say there’s no provision in state law to ‘reclaim’ electoral votes once they’ve been cast.
