Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul says on Indigenous People’s Day we honor Native Americans, their ancestors and their major contributions to the United States and its culture.
Kaul says it’s important to acknowledge the historical trauma that indigenous communities have endured and commend their resilience. Kaul says the state of Wisconsin is now and must continue to be committed to working collaboratively with tribal nations as sovereign partners. Governor Evers marked the day with an apology to native nations for the state’s participation in Indian boarding schools.
