It could soon be easier for parents to know how much their kids’ school is spending and what they are spending that money on.
Both the state Senate and Assembly on Tuesday approved a proposal that would create a single, statewide website that tracks school spending. Republican state Senator Alberta Darling says education is Wisconsin’s single-largest expense, and tracking where that money goes is important. Reform groups say tracking school spending is the first step in holding schools accountable for how they spend taxpayer money.
