Wisconsin’s Elections Commission wants the state Supreme Court to stay away from the new political map for as long as it can.
The commission last week filed a motion to stop the Supreme Court from taking-on any redistricting efforts before lower courts have had their turn. The WEC says the Wisconsin Supreme Court is designed to answer legal questions, not hold fact finding hearings and get into the minutiae of redistricting. Lawmakers are supposed to draw the state’s new political map, but a number of groups have filed lawsuits to try and move the map making process to court.
