President Biden says “it’s been a tough day” and confirmed the attack that killed 12 U.S. service members was carried out by ISIS-K.
He called the deceased service members “heroes” and said the situation in Afghanistan is “evolving.” He added that “his heart aches” for the families of the dead troops.
Other lawmakers react as well.
The Governor of Texas is calling the deaths of numerous U.S. military members in Afghanistan a tragedy. Governor Greg Abbott says he’s praying for the Marines and other military personnel who died in attacks at the Kabul Airport. He also thanked them for defending the U.S. principles of freedom and liberty for all.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is condemning the deadly attacks in Afghanistan that killed 12 American troops, calling the attacks “heinous.”
She said she wants the Biden Administration to continue to keep members of Congress updated on the situation in the war-torn nation. Pelosi added Congress is “deeply concerned about the security and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.”
