The University of Wisconsin is not moving the first days of classes this year.
The school says it will open on September 7th and September 8th this year. Those days just happen to fall during Rosh Hashanah this year. Rosh Hashanah is the celebration of the Jewish New Year. Some Jewish students and faculty members say they will not be in class during those days. UW-Madison, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Parkside, UW-Stout, and UW-Superior are all scheduled to start either the 7th or the 8th of September.
