A new report says more wolves were killed in Wisconsin than reported by the state’s Department of Natural Resources.
Three University of Wisconsin scientists are out with a report that says another 105 wolves in the state were killed either by poachers, farmers, or hit by cars since the federal government removed protections for the gray wolf. The team says that 105 is in addition to the 218 wolves killed during Wisconsin’s wolf hunt last year. Lead researcher Adrian Treves says people are hostile toward wolves, and he thinks the killings will only continue. The Department of Natural Resources is not commenting on the report.
