The Wisconsin Senate is approving a bill that would prohibit police from using chokeholds in most situations.
The Senate today voted to ban chokeholds except when police are defending themselves or are in a life-threatening situation. Other Wisconsin departments have enacted similar policies. Supporters of the bill say it’s a step towards having a consistent policy statewide, while opponents say there should be a total ban.
