Officials with the Rice Lake Fire Department are expressing concern after the city announced it would be cutting a full-time position.
The city council president says a firefighter is retiring but instead of filling that position the city has decided to eliminate it in hopes of not having to lay someone off. The fire chief is worried that since the department is so small, losing one position will have a huge negative impact.
