The first round is what will likely be a long court battle over Wisconsin’s new political map begins today.
A state Senate panel will try and set a timeline for the new map. Wisconsin’s current map, which was drawn after the 2010 Census, ended-up being redrawn by the courts after a lengthy legal battle. Many at the statehouse expect the new map to face the same kind of legal fight. Republican lawmakers will draw the map, but Democratic Governor Tony Evers will need to sign-on to the map before it becomes official by Election Day next year.
