Organizers yesterday canceled the annual Fourth of July Celebration at Marathon Park. They say there is simply not enough time to plan the celebration, the rides, and the fireworks. They hope to return to Marathon Park next summer.
They’re not alone in the shift. Add this to the problems caused by not enough people going back to work.
Milwaukee County yesterday said it is canceling the Third of July fireworks because there are not enough people to work the show. County Parks Executive Director Guy Smith says they don’t have enough people to ‘prepare the lakefront’ before the show, or to clean-up afterwards. Smith says he hopes to have fireworks in the city next year. Last year’s fireworks show was canceled because of the coronavirus.
