Police agencies across Wisconsin are warning people that it’s the season when porch pirates are on the prowl. There is an uptick in theft of packages as the holidays approach and more people are ordering gifts online for delivery. If packages are left unattended, people need to remember that theft is often a crime of convenience. Authorities advise, if possible, having packages delivered to work or to a friend who can accept them and keep them safe until you can pick them up.
Authorities are looking to make the shopping season as safe as possible. Police across Wisconsin will be paying extra attention to shopping areas beginning tomorrow afternoon and continuing through Black Friday and the weekend. There will be more officers in and around shopping destinations. Officials say shoppers need to do their part and be aware of their surroundings and not leave valuables visible in the car.
