If you’ve gotten your coronavirus shots, the state of Wisconsin says you can ditch your mask.
But it’s not that simple everywhere.
The state’s Department of Health Services on Friday said it is changing the statewide mask rules to get in-line with the CDC’s latest advice. DHS’s decision doesn’t override any local mask mandates that may still be in place. DHS secretary-designee Karen Timberlake says the science is clear that vaccinations work and vaccinated people can safely remove their masks.
Here locally, we are approaching the discussion. The days of wearing a face mask in Eau Claire could be numbered.
Both the city council and county board are set to meet tomorrow, and both are expected to talk about rolling back the local mask mandate. Eau Claire currently requires people to wear masks in public buildings and businesses. The CDC last week said people who are fully vaccinated don’t need to continue to wear a mask in most places.
