Public health leaders in Chippewa County are concerned with a rise in coronavirus cases.
Public Health Director Angela Weideman says the county is at a severe risk level for COVID-19 and new cases are rising almost every day. She encouraged people to continue mitigation measures like washing hands, social distancing, and wearing masks.
Overall demand for COVID vaccines is down in Chippewa County compared to recent weeks. Weideman says about one-thousand less people were given vaccine doses last week, compared to the week before. She says the health department is still requiring vaccine appointments and filling them. Some vaccine providers are now allowing walk-in visits without an appointment.
