The University of Wisconsin is going to have to play football without Barry Alvarez for the first time in 30 years.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that Alvarez plans to retire in the next few weeks. Alvarez says it’s just time. His decision means he will miss a 375-thousand-dollar payment he was scheduled to get next year. Alvarez coached the Badgers from 1990 to 2005, then took over as athletic director.
