A high speed chase leads to an arrest.
It was just before 2:30 Thursday afternoon when the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a report of a driver displaying and pointing a handgun at a motorist. The vehicle was described as a silver Dodge caravan. The vehicle was located traveling on I94 at mile marker 8 in St Croix County, near Hudson.
Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle and initiate a high-risk stop at the USH 12 exit. The driver initially stopped but fled the scene (in the vehicle) as Troopers gave verbal commands to exit the vehicle. The Troopers pursued the vehicle. The driver stopped after a brief pursuit. The driver was taken into custody. A handgun was located in the vehicle. The driver was identified as 28 year old Jacob D Koltz, from Brooklyn Center, MN.
Mr. Koltz was charged with 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, 2 counts of endangering safety with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and felony fleeing. Mr. Koltz was also issued citations for speeding 90/70 and Operating without a license. Mr. Koltz was taken to the St. Croix County jail. St. Croix County Sheriff Department assisted with the investigation.
