Wisconsin “Sturgeon General” Arrested After Supplying $20K In Illegal Caviar To Colleagues
A Wisconsin wildlife official is facing charges for supplying around 20-thousand-dollars in illegal caviar to his colleagues. Ryan Koenigs has earned the nickname the “sturgeon general” for his expertise on the threatened fish. But he’s been funneling their eggs meant for research purposes to other Department of Natural Resource employees. Fisheries supervisor Kendall Kamke reportedly said the staff split up the caviar among themselves and “had a good old time with it.”
Koenigs is charged with misdemeanor theft as well as obstructing an investigation. He’s been put on administrative leave and plans to plead not guilty, according to his attorney.
