A native of Wisconsin is being approved by Pope Francis for beatification. The Vatican announced today that Brother James Miller, who was martyred in Guatemala at the age of 37, killed in “hatred of faith.”
Brother Miller was born near Stevens Point and was shot to death in 1982 by three hooded men while he was on a ladder repairing a wall at a school. Beatification is a step towards canonization.
