Dangerous cold remains in the forecast for the next several days in Eau Claire and surrounding areas.
The National Weather Service is calling for temperatures to continue in the single digits. For today, a wind chill advisory remains in effect until ten this morning, with wind chill values expected to drop as low as 35 degrees below zero. Health officials warn the public to avoid being outdoors for extended periods of time. Pet owners are also urged to bring their pets indoors.
And amidst the frigid temps a local cause heats up.
An Eau Claire City Councilmember is holding an online fundraiser to help the homeless this winter. Councilman Andrew Werthmann has raised over 18-thousand-dollars in just two days in his Facebook fundraiser. The money will benefit the Chippewa Valley Street Ministry and the Eau Claire Area School District Homeless Program. Anyone wishing to donate should go to Councilman Andrew Werthmann’s Facebook page.
