The nation’s 46th president is calling his inauguration “America’s day.”
President Biden opened his inaugural address and cited the deadly and violent attack on the Capitol on January 6th. Biden said, “Democracy has prevailed.” He also noted the challenges of the ongoing coronavirus crisis, racial injustice and climate change. Biden made a plea for unity during troubled times. He vowed to put his “whole soul” into the job ahead. Biden said the U.S. can once again become a leading force for good in the world.

Democrat Biden was vice president during the Obama administration. He spent decades in the Senate before becoming Vice President. Biden is 78 and enters office as the oldest president in U.S. history.
