There is at least one case of that highly contagious strain of the coronavirus in Eau Claire County.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday confirmed it found the variant during routine tests in Eau Claire. Doctors say while the strain of the coronavirus is more contagious, there is no evidence that it is any more dangerous than the regular virus. DHS says the evidence also shows that the coronavirus vaccine is effective against the strain.
