A Chippewa Falls man received a 5th OWI after a traffic stop.
57 year old Gary A. Hedrington, was stopped a bit after 8 on the night of December 31st. A trooper stopped the vehicle for having a defective headlamp on Highway 27 near the City of Ladysmith.
The driver was identified as Gary A. Hedrington and showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Hedrington was operating a motor vehicle while impaired with this being his 5th offense. He was arrested and transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary chemical test of his blood and then to the Rusk County Jail.
He is being charged with operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance 5th offense, possession of illegal narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
