There may not be another late night or early morning vote-count in Wisconsin.
Incoming Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu yesterday said he wants to pass a law to allow local election clerks to count absentee ballots before the polls close on Election Day. Current state law stops clerks from counting absentee ballots before they count other votes, and that has led to hours-long delays in Milwaukee and Madison.
LeMahieu has tried the idea before, but he is now in charge in the state Senate so the outcome may be different this time.
