Democratic electors in Madison yesterday cast their ballots for Joe Biden, giving him the state’s 10 electoral votes. Governor Evers said the vote was ‘our part to continue the long and sacred tradition of our democracy’ in the state. Congress will certify the Electoral College vote in January.
Wisconsin’s presidential election is over because the Wisconsin Supreme Court did not overturn it. The court yesterday ruled 4-3 that President Trump essentially waited too long to challenge Wisconsin’s rules for absentee and indefinitely confined ballots.
Justice Brian Hagedorn wrote the opinion, and he said the president could have sued to clarify the rules weeks or months before Election Day. Conservatives on the court say the justices skirted the question and have left Wisconsin’s election system under a cloud of distrust.
