The members of a new state justice department task force are working to get an accurate count of missing and murdered indigenous women.
The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Task Force includes representatives from each of Wisconsin’s tribal nations, state Attorney General Josh Kaul, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, and others. Kaul says the task force will also address the problems that lead to the creation of the task force and how they can improve and propose legislation.
The task force will begin meeting this fall.
