Fifty COVID-19 cases are reported setting a new weekly record in Chippewa County. Health officials say five people are hospitalized which is also a new record. Cases of COVID-19 have increased especially in cities with a university. Chippewa County has zero deaths related to the virus.
On the state level, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is putting out a new public health emergency after a recent surge of COVID-19 cases from college campuses.
New research shows that the recent raise in cases is due to people in the 18 to 24-year-old age bracket. Governor Evers issued a 90-day executive order saying everyone age five or older will wear a face covering when inside or in an enclosed space with others you don’t live with. The mask order is currently set to expire on November 1st.
