President Trump in Kenosha, VP Pence Plans La Crosse Visit

President Donald Trump is in Kenosha with a busy afternoon on tap.  The president is touring the area affected by rioting in the aftermath of the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Kenosha police officer.  Trump plans to meet with business owners and law enforcement.  There has been no plan to meet with the family of Jacob Blake.

President Trump says it is better if Jacob Blake’s case is “handled locally” after he was shot multiple times in the back by police officers.

While visiting Kenosha, Trump said he will speak to Jacob’s family pastor.

President Trump says violence in major cities across the country is “domestic terror.”

Speaking at a law enforcement roundtable in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Trump said he strongly supports the use of the National Guard to help put an end to the violence.  He said it “would all be over very quickly” if local governments and officials in Portland, Oregon would allow federal agents to come in.  Trump said he cherishes law enforcement and he condemns the dangerous anti-police rhetoric.  He noted that there are bad apples within law enforcement that will be taken care of through the system.

Kenosha has been the site of recent violence and looting in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake, who was paralyzed after being shot in the back multiple times by police.

The visits to our state will continues. Vice President Mike Pence has a trip planned to the Badger State.  The White House announced today that Pence will visit Dairyland Power Cooperative in La Crosse on Labor Day.  The vice president was in Darien last month.
