Barron Co. Sees Two Serious Crashes Saturday

Two crashes kept responders busy on Saturday.

One was a bit after 9 on Saturday morning when the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a car vs Pedestrian accident on County Road I west of Chetek.

Initial investigation shows a female, 35 year old Amanda Hodgson, of Chetek, was crossing the road and was struck by a vehicle driven by 44 year old Joel Hayes of Menomonie. Hodgson was pronounced deceased at the scene. The accident is being reconstructed by the WI State Patrol.

Later that afternoon in a separate incident just before 3:30, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a 4-wheeler vs tree crash on 9 1⁄2 Street north of Prairie Farm.

Initial investigation shows a 4-wheeler failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree and was ejected off the 4- wheeler. The 4-wheeler was drive by 33 year old Dustin Pollack, Lansing, MI. Pollack was flown to a hospital with serious injuries. The crash is being investigated.
