There’s no word about layoffs, but the administration at the UW System is going to be leaner.
UW President Tommy Thompson yesterday said top managers at the school will have to accept a ten-million-dollar cut over the next two years. Almost two-and-a-half million-dollars of that cut will come by eliminating out of state travel through next summer. The cuts will not apply to UW’s campuses. They are expected to see cuts of their own as part of Governor Evers’ proposed 250 million-dollar general budget cut.
