There could soon be fewer people spending time in jail in the Chippewa Valley.
Both Eau Claire and Chippewa counties have been selected to be a part of a pre-trial monitoring program. The idea is to quiz people who’ve been arrested, then determine if they need to stay in jail or if they can be released ahead of trial. The program will also test a variety of ways to get people back to court, including everything from text messages to ankle monitors.
