LOCAL PROTESTS PEACEFUL

The latest protest in the Chippewa Valley saw hundreds of people turn out in Menomonie.

The crowd gathered on the corner of Main St. and Broadway to demand justice. Organizers say it is important for smaller, mostly white communities to show solidarity with the protests across the country. Police say there were no problems with the protest.

But that wasn’t exactly the same story in other places. Protesters took to the streets of Milwaukee for a sixth straight day yesterday and a sixth straight night last night. Once again, the daytime protests were peaceful but once night fell the mood changed.

The biggest group of protesters in Milwaukee last night ended-up outside of the District Five police headquarters. The crowd stayed till about 1 a.m. before heading home for the night.
