WI DECONTAMINATION SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING

A decontamination system for N-95 surgical masks is now up and running in Wisconsin.

Governor Tony Evers’ office announced yesterday that the Battelle Memorial Institute Critical Care Decontamination System cleans the N-95 masks such that they can then be reused up to 20 times before needing to be decontaminated again.

The statement says the Battelle systems will be given out at no cost to healthcare organizations, hospitals, nursing homes, first responder agencies, doctor and dentist offices and many other front line health provider organizations.  FEMA and the Defense Logistics Agency helped obtain the decontamination systems which Battelle developed back in 2015 to decontaminate Personal Protective Equipment for use in the fight against the Ebola virus.
