The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says Walmart is discriminating against pregnant employees. The commission filed a lawsuit claiming the retail giant violated federal law by not allowing pregnant employees to participate in a light-lifting program.
The suit argues that other employees with lifting restrictions were given the opportunity. The suit was filed on behalf of one employee of a Wisconsin distribution center who says she was denied light-lifting duty after becoming pregnant. She said she had to transfer to a part-time job with less lifting, losing benefits and pay.
