A public health emergency is in effect for the state of Wisconsin. Governor Tony Evers made that declaration today in response to growing concerns about coronavirus.
The health emergency will allow state agencies to use every tool available to prevent the spread of the virus and protect public health. The governor says this is a continually evolving situation and he’s advising people to continue to follow the best practices and guidelines from the CDC.
Meanwhile, the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament is canceled. The tourney tipped off in Indianapolis last night but officials today decided join many other conferences around the country in canceling the tournament over concerns about coronavirus.
The Wisconsin Badgers entered the tournament as the top seed after finishing the regular season with a 21-and-10 record and a 14-and-6 mark in conference play.
