FINAL OUT FOR MILLER PARK TAX PAYERS

Taxpayers in southeast Wisconsin will stop paying for Miller Park at the end of the month.

The Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District yesterday voted to end the point-one-percent sales tax in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington and Racine counties on March 31st.

Taxpayers have been paying for the stadium since 1996. The tax has taken more than 600-million-dollars from taxpayers since then. Stadium district chairman Don Smiley says the vote to officially end the tax is making good on a nearly 25-year-old promise.
