Organizers of the annual Special Olympics Wisconsin Polar Plunge say the cold wasn’t a factor for the nearly 200 people taking part in this year’s event.
Last year, the polar plunge raised more than one-point-three-million dollars to support 10-thousand Special Olympics athletes in Wisconsin alone. A representative with local Special Olympics says the Eau Claire event is usually one of the largest fundraising events for the organization across the country.
