LOCAL GROUP LOOKS TO FIGHT ADDICTION

The local Chippewa County community is fighting drug abuse and addiction as the concern over methamphetamine continues to rise.  The group “Take a Stand Against Meth” recently held a fundraiser at Hanger 54 in Eau Claire, raising a little more than 12-hundred dollars for their cause.

The group focuses on education, assisting law enforcement, health, and more when fighting addiction in the Chippewa Valley.  Organizers say they will continue to come up with creative ways to raise money for their cause.

On that note, from our local scene to a state view, a study by the U-S Test Centers shows Wisconsin places eleventh overall among all states being affected by drugs.  The study examined data on drug use, addiction and drug laws among all fifty states.

Wisconsin ranks 28th for illicit drug use and 18th for substance use disorder.  New Hampshire is the most impacted and Kansas is the least impacted state.
