The final report into Jayme Closs’ kidnapping tell us, in many ways, what we already know.
Investigators released a heavily redacted report on the case last week. There are a few new details, including that police used a tip from an astrologist. But mostly, the report tells us what we already know about the man who took Closs and killed her parents. The report paints a picture of Jake Patterson as a loner who didn’t have much going for him when he suddenly decided to take Closs. The report says he scared her, and even hit her a few times while holding her captive.
Patterson has been convicted of kidnapping and murder and is serving two life sentences in prison.
