The sheriff in Pierce County is warning people to be careful who they bail out of jail.
The sheriff’s office yesterday said a new scam is making the rounds where a scammer calls, pretends to be someone in jail who needs to be bailed out, and then takes the bail money for themselves. The sheriff says scammers often pretend to be family members. He says if you get a suspicious call, hang-up.
