Torrential rain is prompting a State of Emergency to be declared around Madison. The National Weather Service estimates as much as a foot or more of rain has fallen over the early part of the week in Dane County. Some evacuations have been carried out west of Madison.
The state of emergency will allow the county to receive state and federal disaster aid.
