The man who once held the title as winningest manager in Brewers history has died.
Former skipper Phil Garner passed away Saturday at the age of 76 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Nicknamed “Scrap Iron,” Garner managed the Brew Crew from 1992 to 1997, and was the winningest manager in franchise history until 2021. He also had a long playing career in Major League Baseball that included being part of the World Series winning Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979.
