Traffic Stop Leads to OWI

Jaquila T’Shanda Thompson, 29 years of age, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with four children in the vehicle under the age of 16.


A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper conducted a traffic stop on for failure to move-over on Interstate 94 West bound near mile marker 54 in Dunn County. During initial contact with the vehicle the Trooper detected the odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A roadside investigation and probable cause search of the vehicle were conducted to include standardized field sobriety testing of the driver.

Jaquila Thompson was subsequently arrested for operating while impaired 1st offense with a child under sixteen (16) in the vehicle. Four juvenile passengers, ages four (4), nine (9), eleven (11), and sixteen (16) were turned over to a responsible party traveling with Thompson in another vehicle. Additional violations identified in this incident were possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, possession of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), failure to fasten seat belt, violation of child safety restraints, and operating while suspended.
