Former MLB umpire Bruce Froemming is dead at 86 years old.
According to the New York Times, Froemming’s sons said their father died from brain bleeding after he slipped and fell at his Wisconsin home earlier this week. Froemming was viewed as a giant of the umpiring profession who called over five-thousand games across 37 major-league seasons and ranked No. three on MLB’s career list. After retirement, he worked for the commissioner’s office for eight years.
