Legislation that keeps cryptocurrency ATMs from being a tool scammers use may come to Wisconsin.
Senate Bill 386 would set daily transaction limits and cap fees, as well as “require operators to provide receipts, identify users in all transactions, and require refunds for scam victims.” This would be the first time more than 700-bitcoin-kiosks would be regulated at convenience gas and grocery stores. Police say thousands of people in Wisconsin are reported to have lost “some or all of their life savings through crypto kiosk scams.” The measure will get a hearing before the Senate Finance Committee at the Capitol.
