A federal judge this week fined a Florida man for misrepresenting Native American-made goods at art shows, including in Wisconsin.
Jose Farinanago Muenala pleaded guilty Wednesday to misrepresenting Native-produced goods. Along with the 25-thousand-dollar fine, he was also sentenced to three years of probation. Prosecutors said he sold jewelry under the business name Southwest Expressions. He reportedly claimed the jewelry was handmade by Pueblo natives, but it was actually mass-produced and imported from the Philippines.
