Eau Claire County’s Republican Chairman is responding to words this week from Eau Claire City Council President Emily Berge on the presence of ICE agents in the community.
Showing you different sides so you can decide, Eau Claire County Republican Party Chairman Fred Kappus has now released a statement of his own saying:
Dear Emily Berge,
I found your recent letter to Eau Claire Residents interesting. Not for what you wrote, but what you left out of your letter. In the interest of full disclosure, perhaps you should have mentioned you are a Democrat and are running as a candidate in the 3rd. Congressional District against Republican Congressman Derrick VanOrden.
You state that you stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors. Do you mean legal immigrants who lawfully entered our country through the legal immigration process or are you referring to illegal immigrants who broke our nation’s laws by illegally entering our country? You mention federal policies enacted by our President and Congress, and that some may support them. Emily, as a government official, do you support our country’s legal system of immigration? Or do you support the illegal aliens who broke our laws? I feel the residents of Eau Claire should know if you, the City’s top elected official, support our laws, or do you support lawlessness?
You state the increased ICE presence and enforcement actions by the federal government are creating fear and causing people to feel unsafe. Creating fear is right out of the Democrat playbook, by playing on people’s emotions. Legal immigrants have nothing to fear from law enforcement, but illegal aliens do. Had the Obama and Biden administrations not let tens of millions of illegal migrants to flood into our country, ICE agents would not have to find, arrest and deport them.
Perhaps you should write another letter to Eau Claire residents declaring whether you support the laws of our country. The people should know if you, a congressional candidate supports law and order.
Sincerely,Fred Kappus, Chairman Republican Party of Eau Claire County
