Marshfield Crews On Scene of Attic Fire

The Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department was dispatched to 309 E 14th Street on Saturday, December 13th, for a possible attic fire.

Marshfield Fire and Rescue responded with 8 personnel to find a single-story wood framed residential  home with a large amount of thick smoke coming from the attic of the attached garage. A box alarm  was requested for additional resources. Crews made entry into the garage to find limited visibility  because of smoke. Crews made access to the attic and used a fire hose with water to extinguish the  fire. A hole was cut into the attic to release smoke and hot gases. A fire barrier in the attic along with  a quick aggressive fire attack saved the home from heat, smoke, and fire damage. The ceiling of the  garage along with insulation was removed to check for fire extension.

Assistance was received from  Marshfield Police Department, Hewitt Fire Department, Arpin Fire Department, Lincoln Fire  Department, Richfield Fire Department, Central RIT and Rehab, Spencer EMS, Marshfield Street  Department, WE Energies, and Marshfield Utilities.

The fire is under investigation.
