Preliminary numbers from the state’s Department of Natural Resources are showing small declines in gun-deer license sales and harvest totals.
The 2025 season ended on Sunday and shows just over 182-thousand deer were registered during the nine-day gun hunt, down just under one-percent from 2024. Total deer hunting licenses sold slipped about point-12-percent, though archery participation continues growing. Muzzleloader season is currently underway, followed by late antlerless hunts through early January 2026.
