It’s here! Thanksgiving 2025 has arrived!

As we reflect on the blessings in our life, we’ll take a minute to also look at the day and what’s going on around the Union as people prepare to dish up, chow down and take time to give thanks.
First of all, why? Thanksgiving Day, annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people.
In case you still haven’t made it to where you’re going on this Thanksgiving, have patience. But, the travel crush that was yesterday’s headline should be a little lighter today. The days before and immediately after Thanksgiving are typically the busiest and that’s expected to really stand out this year, with the busiest holiday travel period forecast in 15 years. And speaking of forecast, the weather is likely to play a role in today’s travel plans for millions with winter weather alerts posted from Eastern Minnesota to Upstate New York through Saturday.
If you are staying put, but brining New York into your home, they’re expecting windy conditions, which might affect which balloons we see flying high. But on solid ground, it’s a star-studded lineup of entertainers and performers for this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Jennifer Pulsone reports.
