A survey by USA Today put cross country ski areas in the Western Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin as part of the nations best.
ABR Trails Foundation in Ironwood and Minocqua Winter Park are in the top 10 cross country ski resorts in the country. ABR Trails came in at number four on the list and was described ad an 11-hundred acre Nordic skiing center with over 60 miles of cross-country trails. Minocqua Winter park landed in the number eight spot described as having a good variety of beginner, intermediate and advanced trails, groomed for skating and skiing.
